Expansion Image of the Week: Panama Canal Authority Protects Biodiversity Date: 23-MAY-2008 WILDLIFE RESCUE CONTINUES AS EXPANSION MOVES FORWARD PANAMA CITY, Panama, May 23, 2008 - Wildlife rescue continues as the second

phase of dry excavation for the Pacific access channel moves forward in accordance with the Panama Canal Authority's (ACP) Environmental Management Plan. Approved in the environmental impact study and designed to protect the Canal's biodiversity, wildlife rescue is comprised of several initiatives, which include the placement of traps in areas where vegetation will be affected and the rescue of animals that are not able to move by themselves.As part of the ACP's efforts to protect wildlife as the Expansion Program moves forward, more than 30 hectares in protected areas will be reforested with the help of the Panamanian Environmental Authorities.
